November 2017

Preparatory work is under way for our new loco shed at Trevarno.

January 2017 update

The new loco shed will be located at Trevarno sidings.

Planning permission for a loco shed would not be required since Helston Railway was classed as a “railway undertaking” in the terms of The Railway (Licensing of Railway Undertakings) Regulations 2005.

The shed itself will consist of 15 foot sections and will be constructed in such a way that they can be added to as space requires.  There will be a ash pit to service William Murdoch and a single track running down the middle long enough to take the engine and a carriage.

Construction of the shed is high priority.  The steels are on order  from S.J. Andrew & Sons, Redruth.

The shutters originally intended for the Prospidnick barn will be used in the loco shed instead.
