Operating Company AGM

The AGM of the operating company will be held on Wednesday 25 October 2017 at Hens Horn Court.

You will recall that the previous one was in February but it has been brought forward to an Autumn meeting making it nearer to the financial year end and the end of summer running.

The format will be the same with voting for Directors by ballot.  If you are a volunteer and wish to vote you must be a member of the operating company.

If you are not already registered ask Alan Burton for a form.  This has to be completed and ratified by the next Board Meeting on 27 September.

You do not need to be present at the AGM as you can vote by proxy.

You will receive details of the AGM in due course.

"Cutting of the First Turf" - Visit by Chairman of Network Rail

Cutting of the First Turf

The Chairman of Network Rail - Sir Peter Hendy -  will be visiting the Railway on Thursday 1st September for a ceremony - "Cutting of the First Turf" - to officially launch the Thruthall Halt project.

This is a re-creation of the Helston Railway inaugural ceremony that took place on the 22nd March, 1882 -and using the same spade as was used at that ceremony.  The spade is on display in the Helston Heritage Museum.

Truthall Halt Project

Truthall Halt is the first station on the line north of Helston.  It was built in 1905 to serve the local community and, like the rest of the line, was dismantled in the 1960's.  A project to re-construct the Halt was given additional impetus in April 2016 with a generous donation from the Helston Downsland Trust that has enabled the Railway to purchase construction material.

Work on the Halt will be undertaken by volunteers with considerable assistance from local students giving them valuable work experience.  The railway has an active Community Support Program that provides assistance to local schools, colleges and charities.  Details can be downloaded here - Community Support
